Many drivers express concern about the actions of other drivers when they approach an intersection, but an amazing number of drivers admit to running red lights. The time saved by avoiding a red light is NOT worth a human life. It is therefore crititcal for all drivers to recognize that they can prevent the loss of life by preventing intersection crashes by observing all traffic controls, driving the proper speed and being aware of drivers around you. We all share responsibility in avoiding motor vehicle crashes. STOP running red lights.

Research indicates that a red light is run every 12 minutes and that during high traffic times that number changes to every 5 minutes. Many cities are experimenting with "red light cameras". Although controversial, the people running red lights will receive a ticket via mail. This may help, but only time will tell if these cameras are effective. In the mean time...

Remember it is

Traffic Signal Light

Stop on red, NOT stomp (on the gas) on red.
